Imports of merchandise in November, 1938 totalled $53.6 millions (£3.3 millions) as compared with $59.7 millions (£3.7 millions) in November, 1937, and exports $41.4 millions (£2.6 millions) as compared with $45.2 millions (£2.8 millions).
Imports of merchandise in November, 1938 decreased by 10.2 per cent in terms of local currency, and by 10.8 per cent in terms of sterling. Exports of merchandise in November, 1938 decreased by 8.4 per cent in terms of local currency, and by 7.1 per cent in term of sterling.
During the first eleven months of 1938 imports of merchandise totalled $571.7 millions (£35.3 millions) as compared with $567.7 millions (£35.0 millions) in the corresponding period of 1937: and exports $478.4 millions (£29.6 millions) as compared with $421.5 millions (£26.0 millions).
Imports of merchandise increased by 0.7 per cent in terms of local currency, and by 0.9 per cent in terms of sterling; exports increased by 13.5 per cent in terms of local currency, and by 13.8 percent in terms of sterling.
