Swatow, which was first thrown open to foreigners by the Treaty of Tien- tsin (1858-1860), is situated in the mouth of the river Han in the Southern most corner of the delta formed by that river on its way to the sea. Both had pre- viously been trading in the Philippines and both had come to Namoa Island from Amoy. Subsequently Bradley & Co. removed to Double Island which is situated at the mouth of Swatow Harbour and is 4 miles from Swatow.
