heavy oil, 10,606 tons of crude paraffin, 2,085 tons of coke, and 13,834 tons of sulphate of ammonia during the year ending March 1931. The output of the local industrial factories during 1931 was valued at Gold Yen 53,950,000. This shows a decrease, which would have been considerably greater but for the unusual activity at the vegetable oil mills, of P1 per cent. from the previous year's figure. A motor road between Fort Arthur and Shuangtaikou in the Leased Territory was completed during the year. It is 23.6 kilometres in length and is part of the projected main road between Port Arthur and Choushcitdu, where it is to connect with the Dairen-Chinchow road. The daily air service between Dairen and Tokio ran smoothly to schedule and earried approximately 600 passengers during the year.

The net value of the trade of the port for 1931 was Hk. Tls. 404,283,565 as compared with Hk. Tls. 392,154,759 in 1980 and Hk. Tls: 473,665,052 in 1929.
