The Market,

consists of Five provinces, all reached through Hongkong, of which Two only need be considered at present-KWANGTUNG and KWANGSI— Kwangtung has an area of 100,000 sq. miles and a population of 40,000,000 Kwangsi has an area of 77,200 sq. miles and a population of 13,000,000

In addition, Hongkong;-one of the World's leading sea ports, and connected with Kwangtung and Kwangsi by rail, steamer and junks carrying cargo from Hongkong far into the interior of South China over thousands of miles of natural waterways.

The population of Hongkong is rapidly approaching the million mark -of whom approximately 11,000 are Foreigners"-i.e. non-Chinese.

There are four European and six Chinese daily newspapers of standing, in Hongkong, and several Chinese dailies in the Interior.
