KYOTO
Kyoto from A.D. 794 to 1868 was the capital of Japan.
Its sacred and classic associations as well as the picturesque character of the surrounding country combine to invest the city with an interest attaching to no other place in Japan. Kyoto has excellent hotel accommodation for foreign tourists. The city lies practically in the centre of Japan on the main line of railway, and is reached from Kobe in about three hours. The population, according to Statistics for 1928, is 736,000.
