Vacation of seats by Unofficial Members of Legislative Council.
Unofficial Mem- bers eligible for re-appointment.
ROYAL INSTRUCTIONS-HONGKONG
II. Every Unofficial Member of the said Executive Council re- appointed immediately on the termination of his term of Office shall take precedence according to the date from which he has been continuously a Member of the said Council,
III. Every person who at the date of the receipt of these Our Additional Instructions in the Colony is an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council may retain his seat until the end of six years, and every Unofficial Member appointed after the date of the receipt of these Our Additional Instructions in the Colony shall vacate his seat at the end of four years, from the date of the Instrument by which, or in pursuance of which, he was or is appointed, unless it is otherwise provided by that Instru-
ment.
Provided that if any such Member is provisionally appointed to fill a vacant seat in the Council and his provisional appointment is immediately followed by his definitive appoint- ment, the aforesaid periods of six years or four years, as the case may be, shall be reckoned from the date of the Instrument provisionally appointing him.
Every such Unofficial Member shall be eligible to be re- appointed by the Governor by an Instrument under the Public Seal of the Colony for a further period not exceeding four years subject to Our approval conveyed through one of Our Principal Secretaries of State.
Given at Our Court at Saint James's this Tenth day of January, 1922, in the Twelfth year of Our Reign.
