Chang-chun or Kwanchengtze

This town is at the junction of the South Manchuria (Japanese), Chinese Eastern (Russian), and Kirin-Changchun (Chinese) Railways. It comprises a Japanese railway town, foreign settlement, native town, and Russian railway town in the heart of a large and fertile agricultural district. It enjoys a growing importance and prosperity and is termed "the key of Manchuria." The enormous quantity of staple products grown in the vast plain around is all marketed at, or distributed through, this town Changchun is divided into four parts, commonly called the New Town, the Old Town, Sanfouti and the Russian Quarter. The New Town has been developed by the South Manchuria Railway Company and possesses macadamised roads, wide streets and many open spaces and gardens. The Old Town lies to the south of the New Town. Sanfour, lies between the New Town and the Old Town and is being laid out by the Chinese authorities as a commercial quarter. The Russian quarter in the northernmost part of Changchun is mostly used as the residential quarter of the Russian militiary railway officials and employés.
