The vessels entered and cleared in 1916 were made up of 105,296 steamers of 82,381,569 tons, and 96,720 sailing vessels of 5,638,532 tons; the latter including 4,936,576 Chinese junk tonnage.

The Maritime Customs revenue for the same year amounted to Haikwan Taels 37,764,311, and was derived from :----
