Riot in French Concession at Shanghai, 1874. Roman Catholic Cathedral at Peking

inaugurated, 1884. Aomori devastated by fire, 1910.

British troops evacuated Ningpo, 1842. Imperial Government ordered steps to be taken

at Hongkong to close opium divans, 1908.

King Edward VII. died, 1910. Attack on Mr. Wood at the British Legation at Tokyo, 1874. Departure of Governor Sir William Des Vœux from Hongkong, 1891.

ROGATION DAY. New Town Hall at Tientsin opened, 1890. Waglan Lighthouse opened, 1893. Hongkong declared infected with plague, 1894. Colonel Gordon with the Imperial troops captured Chang-chow, the rebel city, 1864. Occupation of Port Hamilton by the British Squadron, 1885.
