SUNDAY AFTER ASCENSION. H.M.S. "Terrible" arrived at Hongkong from SouthAfrica, 1900, New Town Hall at Tientsin opened, 1890. Waglan Lighthouse opened, 1893 Hongkong declared infected with plague, 1894. Colonel Gordon with the Imperial troops captured Chang-chow, the rebel city, 1864. Occupation of Port Hamilton by the British Squadron, 1885. Meeting of Chinese merchants at Shanghai instituted a boycott of American products as a protest against the Chinese Immigration Act, the movement eventually spreading extensively in China, 1905.

Attempted assassination of the Tsarevitch by a Japanese at Otsu, Japan, 1891. Execution
