appoint any fit person approved by one of Her Majesty's Principal Secre- taries of State, or by Her Majesty's Minister in China, to act as Law Secretary for the time therein mentioned; but every such appointment shall be revocabl, at pleasure, by the Judge, by writing under his hand and the seal of the Supreme Court.

The person so appointed shall, during the continuance of his appoint- ment, have all the power and authority of the Law Secretary.

23. The Judge, Assistant Judge, and Law Secretary shall hold office Tenure of office during the pleasure of Her Majesty, but any warrant of appointment to Assistant Judge, the office of Judge, Assistant Judge, or Law Secretary shall not be vacated and Law by reason only of a demise of the Crown.

In case at any time Her Majesty thinks fit by warrant under Her Royal sign manual to revoke the warrant appointing any person to be Judge, Assistant Judge, or Law Secretary,-or while there is a Judge, Assistant Judge, or Law Secretary in office, thinks fit by warrant under Her Royal sigu manual to appoint another person to be Judge, Assistant Judge, or Law Secretary (as the case may be), then and in every such case, until the warrant of revocation or of new appointment is nctified by Her Majesty's Minister in China to the person bolding office, all powers and authorities vested in that person shall continue and be deemed to have continued in as full force, and he shall continue and be deemed to have continued entitled to all the privileges and emoluments of the office as fully, and all things done by him shall be and be deemed to have been as valid in law, as if such warrant of revocation or new appointment had not been made.

Secretary.

24. One of Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State may, and Her Consular officers Majesty's Ministers in China and Japan respectively, with the approval temporarily of the Judge of the Supreme Court in each instance first obtained, from time to time temporarily attach to the Supreme Court any persons holding appointments as Consuls or Vice-Consuls.

Every person so attach ed shall discharge such duties in connexion with the Court as the Judge from time to time, with the approval of one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, directs, and shall have the like power and authority as the Assistant Julge or Law Secretary has, according as in each case the nature of the duties directed to be discharged by the person so attached may require.

2.-The Provincial Courts.
