ECLIPSES IN 1883.
In the year 1883 there will be four Eclipses, two of the Sun, and two of the Moon. I.—A Partial Eclipse of the Moon ou April 22nd, not visible from England. The Eclipse begins at Sm. aft: 11h. a.m., its middl at 39m. after 11h a m., and its ends at 14m. aft r 12h. (noon), Greenwich mean time; at its greatest phase somewhat less than ne-tenth of the Moon's diameter will be obscured.

II-A Total Eclipse of the Sun on May 6th, invisible from Europe. The central Eclipse begins at 20m. afte 8h. p.m., and ends at 27m. after 11h. p.m. respecti ely; mean long. 156 deg. E. of Greenwich, and lat. 34 deg. 3 S., and in long. 87 deg. W. of Greenwich a d lat. 13 deg. S., respectively.
III.-October 16th--A Partial Eclipse of the Moon, partly visible from England. The Eclipse begins at 59m. after 5h. a.m., its middle at 54m, after Gh. a.m., and it ends at 50m. after 7h. a.m.; the Moon will set at 27m. after 6h. a.m. At the time of greatest Eclipse, somewhat more than one-q arter of the Moon's diameter w 'l be ob eur. d.
IV. Octo er 30th and 31st-An Annular Eclipse of the Sun, the central Eclipse begins at 8m. after 10h. p.m. on October 30th, in long, 126 deg. E. of Greenwich, and lat. 42 deg. & N., a d ends at 34m. after 1b. a.m. of October 31st, Greenwich mean time; in long. 121 deg. W. of Greenwich, and lat. 16 deg. N.
RULES FOR ASCERTAINING DATES OF MOVEABLE FEASTS. Easter day is the first Sunday after the first Eclesiastical full moon following the 21st March, or if the moon happens on a Sunday, Easter Day is the Sunday following. Advent Sunday is the nearest Sunday to St. Andrew's Day, whether before or after. Rogation Sunday is Five weeks after Easter Day. Ascension Day is Forty days after. Whit Sunday is Seven weeks after. Trinity Sunday is Eight
weeks after.
