Pattern Post to GERMANY.
It is hereby notified for general information that arrangements have been concluded between the British Post Office and the Post Office of Prussia, under which Patterns and Samples of Merchandize may be forwarded by the Post, through the Unted King- dom, between Hongkong aud Prussia, at the same reluced charges and under the same general regulations which govern the transmission of Books :—the postage at the follow- ing rates must in all cases be paid in advance.
Not exceeding 2 ounces in weight
FOR A PACKET OF PATTERNS. Exceeding 2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces.
8 cents.
36 cents.
Exceeding 4 ounces and not excreding & vunCUE 32 cents.
And for every additional 8 ounces 32 cents.
Exceeding & ouncer and not exceeding 1 Mb 64 cents.
The following are the States of Germany to which the new arrangements referred to apply, viz: Prussia, Austria, Bavaria, Saxony, Hanover, Wurtemburg, Baden, Lux- emburg, Brunswick, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Oldenburg, Ham- burg, Bremen, Lubeck, and the Countries which are included in the Postal District of the Principality of Tour and Taxis, viz.-Frankfort on the Maiue, Grand Duchy of Hesse, Hesse (Electoral,) Hesse-Homburg, Schaumburg-Lippe, Lippe-Detmold, Nassau, Reuss, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Saxe-Meiningen, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Hobenzollern, Schwartzburg-Rudoldstadt, and Scewartzburg-Sonderhauson.
Pattern Post to ITALY.
It is hereby notified for general information that henceforward Patterns and Sam- ples of Merchandise may be forwarded by the Post between this Colony and Italy by the direct line of Packeta between Alexandria and Aucona at the same rates of passage and under the same general regulations as those which govern the transmission of Print- ed papers by that rates.
Arrangements has also been made under which Books and Patterns and Samples of Merchandize may be transmitted between Italy and Hongkong through the United Kingdom.
In all cases the postage on such packets will be collected in Italy, and when it in not otherwise specified on the packets they will be sent (as letters are at present for- warded) by way of Alexandria,
