THE publishers of the "CHINA DIRECTORY" have spared no pains to ensure such accuracy as is practicable in the present issue, and believe that their subscribers will find the efforts made to this end fairly satisfactory. They desire it, however, to be understood that the Alphabetical List coutains the latest corrections, some few firms and individuals having neglected to forward their returns in time to have them inserted in the body of the work. The number of these was, however, too insignificant to render the issue of a "too late list" advisable or necessary.

The Time Tables for the P. & O. Mails up to June 1873 have come to hand, and the dates are given so far as they extend. A separate slip will be issued to each subscriber so soon as the com- plete tables are received from Europe.

The advertising pages contain as usual a vast fund of informa- tion relating to the Banks, Public Companies, Stores, and General Business Establishments of the Colony, and visitors or residents, requiring articles on sale at Chinese Shops, will be able to learn from them the names of the best known and most respectable, The usual information is embodied in the Appendix.
