JANUARY, 31 Days.

Chinese XXXth Year, XIIth Moon.

The weather, during this month, is dry, cold, and bracing-differing but little, if at all, from that of November and December. The wind blows ge- nerally from the north, occasionally inclining to the NE. of NW. A change to the south-which may be expected at intervals of 10 or 15 days, during the winter-causes considerable variation in the temperature of the atmos- phere.
