Racing enthusiasts will aner again the spacious premises of the Hongkong Jockey Club at Happy Valley tomorrow afternoon when the SEVENTH EXTRA RACE MEETING takes place. The pro- gramme originally called for 10 events but in view of the number of entries received (34) for the Gosford Handicap over six furiosigs for "C" Class Australians, the Stewards have divided the race into ibree sections instead of two as specified on the draft programme, and this extra event will be run as the last race of the meeting al 1.50 p.m.

Hon. Mr. T. E. Pearce Seeks Date For Abolishment

Speaking at the meeting of the Legislative Council yester- day afternoon. the HON. MR. T. £ PEARCE moved an amend- ment to Clause of an Ordinance to amend the Betting Duty Ordinance. 1931, as amended by the Betting Duty Amendment Ordinance, 1948, to read: "This Ordinance shall come into force on the 1st day of October, 1941, and shall continue in force on- til the war, which began on Sept. 3. 1939, is terminated, and no longer, unless otherwise provided by Ordinance.”
