Just Looking Back

On reading that a knighthood had been bestowed on Frederic William Eggleston, one's mind goes back to the day, when he report- ed for duty at Tidworth Barracks on Salisbury Plain during 1918.

It was not long before he be- came a sergeant in that section of the A.I.F. Depots in UK, that uperated under the Judge Advo- cate General and for a while he held the responsible position of president in the wildest sergeants' Diss ever known. One of its mem- bers was Staff-Bergeant Margery, whose name lives in Australian football annals in connexion with the Margery Medal in South Aus- tralis.
