Magnificent Defence Of Tobruk: Axis Panzer Units Brought To Standstill
General
The magnificent defence which the garrison at Tobruk was putting up against the combined German and Italian offensives in North Africa formed the subject of an interesting broadcast from London yesterday by a well-known newspaper correspondent, who paid a great tribute to the manner in which the defence of this town had defied all attempts by the enemy to drive them out.

Chungking Newspaper Hails Roosevelt-Churchill Statement

"The announcement adequately reflects Anglo-American deter- mination that if the statement goes unheeded by the aggressors, effective action will be taken in order to carry into realisation the programme outlined for the disarmament of the Axis Powers," the journal said.
