MRS. JAPANESE CREDITS IN

LI HOK-PARK AND MRS. I. MACFADYEN

The funeral took place yesterday at the Chinese Christian Cemetery, Pokfulam, of MRS. LI HOK-PARK, ́mother of Dr. Lt Shu- fan, who, until recently, was an Unoffteial member of the Hongkong Legislative Council. Her death occurred on Saturday at her resi- dence, No. 2 Tramway Park.

COLONY "FROZEN"

Japanese credits in the Colony were on Saturday frozen by the Government in a special Order gazetted in accordance with a new- ly drafted Defence Regulation published simultaneously.

No official statement was issued with the freezing order, but the action was taken on instructions from the Imperial Government, and ran parallel with similar steps in other parts of the Empire.

The New Defence Regulation provides that "where the Governor
