Tributes To Munificence Of Mr. J. E. Joseph
In the presence of a large and distinguished gathering yesterday afternoon LADY MACGREGOR, the wife of His Honour the Chief Justice, laid the foundation stone of a building which wl, in years to come, provide a safe and permanent haven to the many children of misery who ате driven to seek refuge in the Po Leung Kuk.
The building is an extension of the present Kuk and its con- struction is the direct result of a magnificent donation of $50,000 by MR. J. E, JOSEPH, who, when he visited the Pa Leung Kuk a few months ago was very much impressed with the work under- taken for the large number of destitute girls and children.

All Mr. Joseph asked as a con- dition for his offer was that we should apply to Government for a free, grant of the plece of vacant land adjacent to the Kuk so that it can be used as a playground in substitution' of that on which the new extension is being bullt. We #are indeed grateful to Mr. Joseph for his munificent gift, more so for the charm and readiness with which it was made.
