Parachutists Still Landing:

Empire Troops To Hold Out Dive-Bombing Not Very Effective

THE FIGHTING IN CRETE, WHICH IS CONTINUING, IS A GREAT AIR VERSUS SEA BATTLE.

It is learned in London, says British Wireless, that landings both of parachute and air-borne troops are still being made from the air. Up to dusk-on Thursday, no sea-borne landing had been made.

The enemy hold the Maleme aerodrome.

This remains the only place where the Germans have a strong foothold although it is obvious freshly dropped troops are likely to get a temporary foothold and the British object must be to prevent them from strengthening the position or being able to hold it at any length of time.

He supports the suggestion for a conference of Provincial Premiers made by Sir Sikandar Hyátkhan, Premier of Punjab, and Fazlul Hug. Premier of Bengal, and urges Gandhi to ca'l off the civil disobedience campaign.

Emphasising that time is the most important factor in the present situation, he appeals to the whole country to share with America and Britain and other units of the Cominonwealth in the effort to save humanity and total destruction by brute force.
