VAST AMERICAN DEFENCE PROGRAMME: HAWAIIAN CHANCES FOR STATEHOOD
Washington, May 3-Prospect that Hawaii will add the 49th star of statehood to the American flag is brighter as result of the vast defence programme now under way in the mid-Pacific Territory, in the opinion of Delegate Samuel Wilder King, member of Congress.
He thinks that the great military and naval construction design. ed to make Hawaii an impregnable American fortress in the Pacific will bring the Territory deeper into the national consciousness, cause large migration of workers, stimulate commerce and tourist travel, and quicken many activities that reflect the identity of Hawali with the American Union.
