This exclting scene untolds in the magnificent palace of the cralty Magician Jaffer, and it concerns the capture of Prince Ahmad, played by John Justin, and the amazing little thief of Bagdad, portrayed by Sabu, in Alexander Konda's new Technicolour spectacle of Eastern drama and intrigue, "The Thief of Bagdad" now showing at the Oriental Theatre. This is the first time that the film was ever, shown for less than "Road Show" prices!

All box office records were broken when the "Thief of Bagdad" was shown simultaneously at the Nan- king and Metropole Theatres Shanghai, where it ran for 28 days, which exceeded by far the takings of "Gone with the Wind," which held the previous record, at the King's Theatre where it was recently shown at roadshow prices

KING'S THEATRE ATTRACTION

I Was An Adventuress

Glamorous romance and thuro- ughly absorbing entertainment re- suit when exquisite Zorina - meets handsome Richard Greene in "I Was Ari Adventuress," the 20th Ceritury-Fax presentation which openg at the King's Theatre today. Set against a series of breath- takingly smart Continental back- grounds. T Was An Adventures" provides the gorgeous Zorina with ä role which gives her not only an opportunity to appear to best ad-| vantage in a wardrobe of eye-al- ling creations, but also to prove herself a dramatic actress of great ability.

As for "Richard Greene, this handsome young actor; who has risen to the top rank of Hollywood favourites, turns in a performance which is bound to win him a host of new fans.

An amusing touch is lent to the picture by Peter Lorze, who gives one of the most astonishing pet- formances of the year as Polo, the muddle-headed but light-fingered accomplice of Zorina and Von Stroheim.

RECORD BREAKING PICTURE FOR HONGKONG

The Philadelphia Story

Final word has been received from the Home Office of M. G. M Pictures to the effect that the pro- duction entitled "The Philadelphia Story" ran for six solid weeks at the Music Hall, New York, the world's largest and most sumptuous cinema

It broke by a ide margin every record established hitherto at this theatre, both in number of atten- dants and receipta.

The extended ran was terminated only because The Philadelphia Story had been booked in compet ing cinemas, and the Music Fall had itself, booking commitments. which could be no longer postpon- jed.

It will be recalled that James stewart won the most recent Mo- tion Picture Academy Award for his portrayal in this picture.

The Philadelphia Story has been acquired by Queen's and Amambra Ithratres...
