LONDON, JAN, 2 (BRITISH WIRELESS)—DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE FIGURES OF BRITISH AND ENEMY LOSSES IN AIR AND SEA WARFARE DURING 1940 now available show that 2,993 Ger- man aeroplanes were shot down over Britain at a cost of 847 British fighters.

CHUNGKING, Jan. 2 (Reuter)-The Chinese military authorities in Northern Kwangiang are closely watching the situation around Canton where indications of a possible Japanese push towards Shaokwan are seen. according to a reliable Chinese source here.
The strength of Japanese garrisons at Canton and Chungshan, it is claimed, has been doubled and more than 10,000.. Chinese are said to have been drafted and dispatched northward as labour corps.
Japanese aircraft at Canton have been increased by more than 100 machines which is the highest figure in many months, the same source declares.»
