PRESIDENT LINER HIT BY STORM IN JAPAN

WOMAN PASSENGER

INJURED

REPORTING AN ENCOUNTER WITH A TYPHOON WHICH LASHED HER FOR HOURS OFF THE JAPANESE DEEP, the Pre- sident Cleveland of the American President Lines, arrived on Sept. 29 from Los Angeles and San Fran- cisco viaway ports, a day behind schedule, reports the Manila Bul Jete

A passenger who was injured ! when the ship was hit by stormy 'weather had to be carried from th: ship to a car in front of the pler.

THROWN 20 FEET

The injured passenger was Mrs. R. Fablan, wife of a U. 8. Navy Heutenant. She still had her left ankle bandaged. During the storm she

was speaking to the ship's purser when the ship made a sud- den lurch and she was throwni 20 feet into the door of a cabin on the port side of 'the ship,

Ship officers feared at Grat she.. had a broken ankle, but X-ray examinations contacted subsequently showed it was only a Sprain. Ship officers and the ship's surgeon' rendered her all possible ald. Mrs. Fabian arrived with her husband and their son and were met at the pler by a group of friends.

Officers of the President Cleve- land reported that pieces of furnt- ture were thrown from one side of the ship to the other while the liner was rolling in the rough seas.
