(BY “LAST QUARTER”).

The second half of the year's racing programme begins tomorrow afternoon at the Happy Walley with the Seventh Extra An interesting card Race Meeting of the Hongkong Jockey Club.

SUDDENLY SIGN UP TO PLAY FOR SING TAO

There was quite a stir in local soccer circles gesterday morning when it became known that Hàu Ching-to and Cheung Kam-hoi, two of Eastern's best and oldest players, had suddenly, and quite un- expectedly, signed up to play for Sing Tuo this season. Another prominent Eastern star, Chung Yung-sum, is also expected to go pver to the new Club, thus leaving last year's Shield winners in a ̈ Very weak position.

In fact, by the acquisition of these stars Sing Tao will feld

- race timed for 2 p.m. and the first saddling bell rung at 130.

Most

of the ponies entered for the meeting appear to have benefited by the summer recess, but since every race tomorrow is a handicap and some of the contenders have not quite attained their proper racing condition, there are likely to be a few upsets and punters can look forward to some good dividends.

Messrs. Encarnacao and Needa. are in Shanghal and up to the time of going to press there is no news of their imminent return" and it is therefore probable that these two popular jockeys will not be present for the meeting. I have been given to understand "that Mr. Encarnacao. will be residing in the North permanently and race-goers will have to wait for our Annual Meets-to-see this-Ane Jockey in action again.
