LONDON, Aug, 12 (Reuter)—An official statement says that the Admiralty and the War Office regret to announce that "the stanmer, Mohamed All El-Kebir, while acting as transport, has been torpedoed and sunk. Soine.710 survivors have been landed out of a total number of 360 aboard.

The Mohamed All El-Kebir was a 7,200-ton ship. She was built at Greenock in. 1922, but her port of registry was Alexan- dria. Before being requisitioned for war purposes she was owned by the Pharaonic Mail Line.
