over imports during the first four months of 1940.

Over that period, the Chinese Maritime Customs reported an export surplus of $68.324,000 for the free ports of Ningpo, Wenchow, Liuchow, Kluarchow, Lungchow, Mengtes and Szemao as against an import surplus of $3,070,000 in the other Chinese- administered ports of Chungking, Wanhsien. Shasi, Wuchow and Tengyuch.
