ROME FEARS MUCH-DREADED | NEW SOUTH
CLASH IN SPRING
Allies Will Not Start Any Peace Talks
The decision taken at the sixth meeting of the Supreme War Council has created a deep impression, not only in Great Britain and France, but also in Rome where observers comment on the result as the most far-reaching, declara- tion of unflinching solidarity made by the Allies since the outbreak of hostilities.
Political circles feel that due to the Allies' deterinina- tion not to take the thitiative in any peace talks, the Spring must inevitably bring about the real clash of arms-the clash which the whole of Europë had been dreading for:so long.

TOKYO, Mar. 29 (Router)—–As an: dutcome of the internal
friction and splits engendered in the political Parties through the expulsion of Mr. Takao Salto, veteran Minselto Party member, from the Japanese House of Re- presentatives on Mar. 7, important revisions are forecast in parlia mentary circles, notably, in the Rightist and Labour wings.
Mr. Neville Chamberlain took advantage of the oppor- tunity to extend official greet- ings to M. Paul Reynaud since the latter became President de Counsell.

Relations Strained
LONDON, Mar 29 (Reuter) ---Commenting on the Supreme War Council meeting. The Times diplomatic correspon- dent, says that Franco-Soviet relations are undoubtedly strained at the moment, al- though neither side is ex- aggerating the Souritz · affair. There is, however, no Allied difference in the outlook to- wards the Soviet, whose policy has become increasingly clear in the betrayal of last August, in the occupation of the Bal- tie islands and ports, and the unprovoked attack on Finland.
The French Ministers "are known to be specially anxious about the passage of German Imports through Siberia and they are anxious, above all, that the closest check should be kept on the passage of min÷ erals in Soviet ships. The British detention of the two Soviet merchantmen in Hong- kong has very great impor- tance in their eyes.

The announcer added that German merchantmen in north- ern waters have been instructed to seek shelter in the nearest ports and, as a result, the Scandinavian harbours were liter- ally teeming with German vessels.
