FROM ROZA BROS. Sliver prices rose 1/18 yesterday for both deliveries, the quotations being 20.11/16 for both Ready and Forward, Silver advices, reported India as having bought to a smali extent, for Forward delivery and Speculators as having sold. The market close steady with small buyers at the fixed rate. Ameri- can Sliver was quoted at 34.314 for Spot.

The London-New York Cross- rate was quoted at 402.1/2 New York-Londen was quoted at 371. 7/8"

Quiet, but US. Dollars were a shade easier.

No business was reported, lers at 1/2.27/32 March-June, buyers at 1/27/8 Cash

U.S. Dollars

Opened with a possible seller for Cash at, 22.7/8. There were rumours of business done at 227/8 Cash. Subsequently business was arranged at 22.13/16 March and 223/4 April. The market closed at 1 pm. with sellers at 22.13/16 March, 22.3/4 April, buyers at 22. 15/16 Cash and 2213/16 April.

The market was quiet in the afternoon.

The market acted well in view of the some foreign continued weakness in the Sterling exchange and

quidation. Prices responded to a broader domestic Trade demand and to the scarcity of March notices. The cotton-goods market here is quiet but prices are firm. Spot market is quiet but steady.

NEW YORK RUBBER: Unsettled 'by the weakness of Sterling which kept buyers on sidelines. Liquidation was moderate likely to carry somewhat further.

The extension of the export subsidy for ship- ments to Europe enlightens the hope of a much better export en- "quiry for our wheat and this together with the growing realiza- tion that the poor crop conditions both in Europe and our South- West may result in heavy acreage abandonment should strengthen the market in the long run.
