GAME IN OPEN DOUBLES: MARTELL'S BRANDIES

HUNG'S FINE JUDGMENT

Playing a very sound game, mostly at net, E. C. Fincher was well up to his old form when he partnered W. C. Hung to beat A. Chan and J. Hsu 6-3, 6-3 In the Open Doubles in the Colony Tennis Tour- nament yesterday,

The game was a one-sided affair from the start and although Hung missed several chances in the early stages he improved as the match progressed and was playing with excellent judgment towards the end. Fincher's shots were as accurate as ever but he was at times rather slow in retrieving.

Chan and Asu combined well but were beaten by a definitely better team. While Chan's forehand drives were good, his back-handers were very weak. Hsu, on the other hand was equally proficient all round. Although somewhat ner- vous and unsteady at the start, Hsu played a good and stylish game

and after some time and was easily the most spectacular player of the quartette.
