MR. LAN'S FAR VIEW, RIDDEN BY ME H C. PIH, WON THE ROOTY HILL DERBY AND SPORTS CLUB CUP IN RECORD TIME YESTERDAY WHEN THE HONGKONG JOCKEY CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING WAS CONTINUED IN IDEAL WEATHER. THERE WAS "A GOOD CROWD INCLUDING HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR - AND PARTY.
Far View covered the mile and a half in 2.41.4, as against the previous record of 2.43.3 held by Gipsy Love.
Another record was established when Mr. R. B. Mol- ler's Spicylight ridden by Mr. "Boojie" Moller, won the Chater Cup (about half-a-mile and 170 yards) in 1 min. 2 4/5 secs., lowering the record established by its stablemate Racylight on Monday, by 1 4/5 secs. Racylight's time was 1.04.3.

Derby Sweep Winners
The first prize of $297,920 in the Derby Sweep was won by.. a syndicate of employees in the Bakery Department of Lane Crawford's. It is learned. The syndicate bought 75 tie- kets in the Sweep, and one of these, was the first prize tie- ket-No. 132589.

There was a dead-heat for the first section of the Albury Stakes when Sparrow (Mr. B. L. Taq) and Flying Dutchman (Mr. Needa), passed the post together in thrill- ing style with Sea Jay (Mr. B. A. Proulx) a short-head behind.
DAILY DOUBLE
The Daily Double paid $87.30 to each of 172 holders of the correct combination of This Time and Phoenix. The total pool was $6,028.
Favourites again obliged. and punters generally had a good day. In nearly all the events the favourites finished first and divi- dends were consequently small, in the last four races in successión those the winning ponles were carrying the most money.
The highest dividend was paid by This Time who won the Chefoo Handicap to pay $39.10. In this event, Night View, who was second, paid $38.40 and Bome Hope (third) $39.80. Murrumbidgee and Guin- ness Time paid win dividends of 1362,$30.40 and $20.50 respectively.

From a good start, Jober, least faucled, took the lead followed by Lliber, Bear Claw, King's Warden and Eve of Harvest. The field strung out in the back stretch, maintain- ins the same order as far as the rock where Eve of Harvest began to move up.
Jober faded on entering the stralglit, while Lilliber and Bear Claw were in front at the bend. In the home run, Eve of Harvest, very hot favourite, came up strong- ly to win easily by two-and-half- lengths with Liliber, second in de mand, second and Bear Claw, next fancied, third, Rose Emily and Jober, making late spurts, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
