EXPLOSIVE WEEK-END SOFTBALL

The Canadian Chinëse girls vir- tually made certain.o? winning the Southard Shield by nosing out the Wahoos yesterday in a close and explosive clash.

The game was completed under protest by the Wahoos when one of the Canadian Chinese. batters scored on a hilt to right field which the fielder pushed into foul terri- tory and against an obstruction."

The umpires ruled that the ball was in play, while the Green Owls claimed that the runner was limit- ed to the number of bases which she could advance, as the ball was dead.

The runner reached home" before a play was made to her and it .appears 'kely that she would have scored on the ruling that a runner is allowed' öne base in ad- dition to the base to which he is going at the time the block occurs. Whether the protest will be made official is not yet known.

The Ball Club took runners-up position when they beat the Baby Panthers in 3 game that was also full of explosive morients.

Protests were numerous but it

is doubtful if any will be officially lodged.
