CHUNGKING, Feb. 7 (Central) -Statistics compiled by the Ministry of Education show that 2,942,929 literates in 14 provinces In Free China were educated in 1938. Altogether 60,366 classes were opened to educate them, entalling a total expenditure of $2,750.525.

The 14 provinces were Kwanget, Hunan, Honan, Chinghal, Hupeh,! Cheklang, Yurnazi Binkiang. Klangs,
