SHANGHAI, Dec. 19 Foreign shipping eircles here are not enthusiastic concerning the re-opening of the Yangtze, as only the stretch from Nanking to the sea will be open to foreign shipping.

The Japanese naval spokesman emphasized that the river is sub- ject to closing when military necessity demands.

The closing of the Pearl River is cited as an example of the uncer- tainty of Japanese promises.

NAZI PLANES SINK MOTOR VESSEL LONDON, Dec. 19 Reuter)-m connection with the coastal raids on Britain by the Nazi Air Force od Sunday, it is now reported that the motor-vessel Serenity, of 241 tons, was senk "during the course of these attacks.

The crew, who have been landed by lifeboat, said the ship was at- tacked by Nazi planes and one bomb made a direct hit on the Serenity, but fortunately no one was injured,

British fighters then arrived and drove the Nazis of, appearing to have destroyed one as they did so, according to the ship's crew.

NEW RAILWAY IN KWANGS!

HENGYANG, Dec. 19 (Int'l)— Traffic on the new railway between Lluchow and Kwellin in Kwangsi began on December 16. linking it with the line extending to this town and Changsha.

However, the construction of the railway from Liuchow to Chen- nankwan near the French bordéz has been suspended owing to mili- tary reasons.

Also frequent sailings to Shanghai and Japan.

All vessels may call at any porte on or off the route and the route and all sailings are subject to change or deviation with or without notice.

Passengers are requested to register their requirements ere perforce but under present circumstances sailings restricted.
