NEW YORK COTTON: Trade and foreign demand advanced prices easily. Hedge-selling against loan withdrawals was limited as a result of the grower's persistent holding-movement. Textles were more active and prices were firm. Trade predictions for the year-end

were generally optimistic.

NEW YORK RUBBER: There was some factory demand. Ship- ments were light and sellers were not pressing. -

CHICAGO WHEAT: The cash position remains firm while it is hinted that good export demand is expected as a result of the low crop estimate In the Argentine. Lack of an indication of early rellef in the drought sections is an additional bullish factor.

NEW YORK HIDES: There was a large commission-house de- mand for futures; including substantial purchases by the promin- ent dperators. Large, spot sales are reported. Active demand for domestic leather continues.

SHANGHAL Dec. 15. (Int'l)- "For every ton of German goods confiscated by the British authorities on board Japanese ships, the same amount of British goods aboard British vessels in Far Eastern waters will be confiscated by the Japanese," stated a Jap-¡ anese spokesman here.

A cargo of German goods is aboard the Sanyo Maru, which salled from Rotterdam on Dec. 10.

Japanese naval circles maintain- ed that the new blockade measure is incompatible with international law and the Japanese authorities are resolved to enforce their views by actions if necessary.
