DISAPPOINTING MATCH AT CAROLINE HILL
Eastern Had Lucky Escape Against Middlesex
BY "PILAT”
Those who turned up at Caroline Bli! expecting to witness a keenly contested game between SOUTH CHINA “A” and KWONG WAH were keenly disappointed as the match was a dull and uninteresting affair.
Both teams seemed to take things easily and never, at any stage of the game, unduly exerted themselves.
Lee Wai-tong returned to lead the attack after his recent injury. Although this brought a noticeable improvement in combination, the forwards, on the whole. still lacked the "old punch."
With Lau Tau-man still la Shanghai Ip Pak-wah was seen at left-wing, a position in which he figured as an Interposter against Shanghai, He played a good game and showed glimpses of his old:
form.
}
Mak Shui-hon and Lee Tin-sang- were their usual steady selves and had no trouble in checking the opposing forwards.
Kwong Wah made two changes which did not improve the team.
Chaw Man-chi, having recovered from an injury, came in at inside left and Cheuk Shek-kam moved to right-wing.
Was
The attack showed better · com- bination than the champions but were too erratie in front of goal.; Li Yan-leung was the best among the forwarda.
LUCKY ESCAPE EASTERN again had a lucky escape from defeat. Qutplayed in all departments of the game they managed to score a last-minute goal and share eight goals with MIDDLESEX.
