The National Times, referring to Marshal Wu's rejection of Japanese overtures during the past two odd years, says that he had administer- ed a "spiritual blow to the in- vaders.

The Sing Tao Jih Pao says that Marshal Wu has been a towering £gure of purity admidst foulness in the Japanese "occupied" areas. His loyalty and integrity should command the respect of the whole nation

The Lih Pao states that although he had been an obstacle to the Chinese Nationalist Revolution prior to 1927, Marshal Wu has re- presented the true national spirit in the last ten years.
