RECREIO BRINGS OFF DOUBLE AGAINST I.R.C.
ALEC PEARCE RUNS INTO FORM WITH BRILLIANT CENTURY
li
By E. U. Ropes"
Alec Pearce, the Hongkong Cricket Club star batsman showed a glimpse of his true form on Saturday when, playing against the Royal Navy on. the Chater Road ground, he scored 118 not out. The Club were thus able to declare at 199 for 4 but in spite of this the Navy man- aged to force a draw their score being 127 for 6 at ** stumps."*
J. E. Richardson and A. E Perry, who are turning out for the Club whenever the Civil Service has a off day it seems, both got going, the former with 31 runs and Perry with two wickets for 27 runs. Ilsley bowled well for the Club to take three wickets for seven runs apiece.
Alec Pearce brought off some de- tightful shots and it seems that he
is going to be good for plenty of TODAY'S RUGBY
runs this season. I am wondering.... though whether he will give up cricket for football later in the
season.
INDIANS BEATEN
As I expected the Indians, with- cut. A. R. Kitchell, K, Nazarin and A. R. Minu, were no match for Recreio though the Madar brothers made a valiant effort to pull the game through
Eddie Gosano (4 for 18), A. P. Pereira (3 for 16) and G. N. Gosano (2 for 5) played havoc with the Indians who had first lease of the wicket and were sklitied out for only 70 runs. A. H. Madar, the I.R.C. sheet- anchor, made 21 while younger brother "M.P." helped with an Invaluable 17 but these scores were of no ayall,
