Some startling upsets marked the Tenth Extra Race Meeting at the Valley on Saturday, and in only two in- stances was the win dividends under the $50 mark.

Baffin Bay, the winner of the Fremantle St. Leger, paid $410-the highest for the day-while the winner of the Sub-Griffins St. Leger, King Kong, returned only $8.90. King Kong was the only favourite to succeed.

The racing on the whole Sussex Handicap First Section was keen and punters were
