To Present "The Circle"

4

The Hongkong A.D.C. have now completed their plans for the pro- duction of Somerset Maugham's well-known play, "The Circle," at the China Fleet Club Theatre for four nights from February 21 to 24, 1940.

The production comes rather late in the season, the public hav- ing been accustomed to expect these popular shows before Christ- mas. But the Theatre has been used for other purposes, and will only become available towards the end of the year, so that the A. D. C's production programme has been unavoidably held up.

LIGHT COMEDY

"The Circle," which has been described as Somerset Maugham's best play, is a light, drawing-room comedy, based upon a most amus- ng central idea, and displays to the best advantage all the author's gifts for bright characterisation, An evening of cynicism and wit. really good entertainment is 83 sured.

All the profits from the produc- tion are to be devoted to the Bri tish War Organisation Fund, and
