market was steady.

COTTON: Frices advanced easily on domestic trade buying. which, however, was only of moderate proportions. Hedging was small on prospects that the Government will shortly be making loans to the farmers against 'Spot" cotton. Cotton cloth sales for the past two weeks were encouraging. We favour a constructive attitude.

RUBBER The strength of the market is largely reffecting the firmness of the London market and the continued reports of London. buying to fulfil the Barter agreement. .Commission Houses were buy- Ing and covering. Dealers were not in the market.

WHEAT: Early easiness was in evidence, prices being influenced by a fair amount of profit-taking and realizing. Prices turned firm- er, however, in the later period of trading, following receipt of re- ports of complaints of drought conditions in the South-west, thus bringing renewed Commission House demand and local short-cover- ing. Attention is being given that if this drought, should continue unbroken for the next three weeks, it would be certain to result in a short crop in 1940.
