An Extraordinary Gorern- ment "Gazette," published yes- terday, Contains 8.12 order issued by Me, W. 3. Came, Controller of Food, defining standard and maxinium prices for retailers in relation to the sale of food in the Colony.

DEFINITIONS" "Food" mcludes every article or substance used for food or drink, other than drugs, and also every Hving thing capable of being con- : sumed as food, "import" means to bring or cause to be brought into the Colony by land, air or water: "sell" means to sell by retail; "standard price" in relation to any

food means the maximum retail: price for the time being fixed by order by the Controller of Food,

No persons shall or offer for sale any food at a price greater than the standard price,

HECEIPTS NECESSARY

At the request any person every retailer shat give a written re- ceipt for the payment for any food sold by him to that person Except as otherwise expressly provided by any order of the Con- trofler of Food:-"

Car Driver

A fine of $12 was imposed on Chung Kwong-wai. "driver of private car No. 4929. who was summoned before Mr. Q. A. A. Macfadyen at the Kowloon Magis- tracy yesterday, for failing to gave a proper signal when changing his direction f Castle Peak Road, on September 4, at 3.45 p.m.

Sgt. W Campbell prosecuted while Mr. G. 8. Ford represented the defendant:

Ip Yee, complainant, said that he was driving his car along. Castle Peak Road, Defendant's car was about 25 feet in front of his vehicle, when it suddenly swerved to the right hand side of the road without giving any signál. His car collided with defendant's car which was ahead,

Defendant said that, he did give three signals. He also applied the "stop" light signal.

The late Mre, Elia Sophia Ger- trude Tidwell, who died at Les Creux St. Erelade, Jersey Island on May 19 last, left local estate valued at $3,200

Local estate, sworn under $7,500, was left by the late Mrs. Edith Augusta. Crawford, who died at the Palace Hotel Shanghai, on May 10 this year.

The late Miss Marjorie Hesketh Hughes, who died at the Kowloon Hospital on February 1 last, left estate of $1,200.

3 FURTHER CASES OF CHOLERA ON WEDNESDAY

Three further cases of cholera (two from Victoria and une from Kowloon), eight cases of dysentery (two from Victória and six from Kowloon), five cases of enteric rever (one from Viétoris and four- Trom Kowloon), in addition to 20 cases of tuberculosis and two cases or puerperal fever were notined to the Health Department on Oct. 4.
