THE HUNAN-
CAMPAIGN
WITH EACH DAY, the new Japanese offensive in Hunan comes to bear more resem- blance to a major campaign comparable to the great drives on Nánking, Hsuchow and Wuhan.
THE ADVANCE of the first Japanese column down the railway from Yochow has now been supplemented by two distinct forces which have landed on the eastern and southern shores of the Tung- ting lake. Armies "based on Nanchang are also in motion, forming the left flank of the enveloping movement that is being attempted against the Chinese army. According to last advices enemy. troops have penetrated to within 25 miles of Changsha.
