ANOTHER RECREIO YEAR IN COLONY LAWN BOWLS "SPUGGY" SILVA'S OVERWHELMING VICTORY
Prison Officers Set Two
New 1939 Records
(BY: JACK HY)
Recreio "A" retained the First Division Cham- pionship when they beat the Indian R.C. last Satur→ day and thus, 1939 looks very much like being another Recreto year. Apart from the First Division Cham- pionship, both the Open Fairs and the Open Rinks Championships have been won by them. They also have a finger in the Third Division Championship pie. They are at present leading in this Division, being two points ahead of their nearest rivals, the K.C.C. in thirteen matches.
They certainly have a very good chance of win- ning the championship as they are expected to win all their remaining three matches, whereas the K.C.C., even if they win their remaining matches (which is very doubtful as they have yet to meet the Prison Officers) will still be behind Recreio." However there's many a slip etc. and uriless Recreio make sure of the championship by winning all their matches the K.C.C. will catch up on them:
Recreio "A" had a fright for the home team by beating last Saturday in their match Frank Goodwin by 22 shots. against the Indians. Down on two 'rinks., they finally emerged winners by the very narrow margin of two shots.
Credit for the Realelo victory must go to FX. "(Spuggy)" Silva. who alone of the Portuguese skipe won. his 25 shot win over AK. Minu enabling his club to barely 'nose out the Indians. Both Carlos Stiva and Dickie Alves lost to: A.R. Dallah and MR. Abbas re- spectively.
done
"Spuggy." who has little for his club compared to the "other two skips (both of whom, incidentally, are at the head of the First Division skips' table), came in for his bare of glory last Saturday, OVERWHELMING WIN
The Prison Officers set two new 1939 records when they scored 101 and best their oppon ents, H.K. Electric, by 67 shots, Previous to this the higbest aggregate was credited to Taikoo R. C. with 96 shots. against the H.K. Football Club in a Second Division match on June 10 and the highest win was Recreio's 50 shot win over the Kowloon FC. in the Third on July 15th,
The two leaders In the Third Division, Recreio and the Kowloon C.C. won quite comfortably last Saturday, their respective victims being Kowloon Bowling and Craigengower.
