LAWN BOWLS NOTES:

Recreio Well Away In Championship Fight

Should Go Even Higher Up After This Saturday

(By "Jack Hy")

Recreio "A" are well on their way to winning the bowls title again for the second consecutive year. Last Saturday they beat their old rivals, Craigengower, quite comfortably at the Valley, and thus maintain their fine 100 per cent. record which, it was thought, was in danger of being smashed. However, the Portu- guese proved the superior team and ran away with a 17 shot victory though they were handleapped by a green both strange and tricky.

Although the Craigengower rinks are not what they were, the Portuguese victory was nevertheless meritor- lous as, on their own green at least, Craigengower. must still be regarded as a force to be reckoned" with. But now. if any opposition to the Portuguese "is forthcoming it must be from the Kowloon C.C. who are at present one match ahead of but two points be- hind the champions.
