The market opened 1/18 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Friday's closing quotations.

Owing to the fact that London has been closed since last Fri- day the market was lifeless, however New York demand was good.

The Singapore trade is bullish.

Foreign Imports of Rubber during July 1939-20,052 tons increase 10,485 tona.

Rubber stocks held in the United Kingdom for the week ending August 5 amounted to 55,124 tons being a decline of 1,709 tons..

NEW YORK COTTON

The first Government estimate of this year's "crop of 11,412,000 bales, was about 'as had been expected. This thows a decrease of 580,000 bales as compared with last years production of 12,009,000 balea. There was hedge selling on rains in Oklahoma and Texas. Trade demand was slow, but sentiment on this publictation is mo- derately bullish, we expect eventually high' price.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The market to-day was dull and featureless, with little ac- tivity in either direction. There was some sparse buying by the Trade, but factory Interest was negligible.

CHICAGO WHEAT

Favourable weather conditions are reported in Canada and in a large area of the North American wheat belt. Export business W slow. It is reported that a large surplus of Argentine wheat avail- able for export is, still in evidence. Uncertainty is still to be clarified as to the policy which Argentina will pursue in disposing of her sur- plus and more so, with keen competition from the North American wheat about to increase."
