LONDON, July 21 (By Air Mall)-A profound change in Im- perial affairs is being contemplated in high official quarters—the introduction In the Empire of the system of baster trade. The market. was steady but quiet throughout the session, in- fluenced by the anticipation of the Government crop estimate. Dry conditions cor tinued in the South-west. Pre-Bureau report Liquida- tion was well absorbed. Washington news is favourable and is re flected in the market action. The Far East was a steady buyer of the later deliveries. Offerings generally were light. Spot market was firm. Certificated Stocks are very small With all these factors, should the official estimate turn out just in line with general ex- pectation, we expect continued strength for near months, but for long pull range, would favour accumulation of March: or May de- liveries. The market will be closed for fifteen minutes after publicä- tion of the Bureau report.

NEW YORK RUBBER

Prices advanced on some Trade buying and on a fair amount of factory absorption. The trade estimates the world stocks to be re- duced to as low as 250,000 tons together with the estimated stocks àroat at 90,000 to 100,000 tons, making a total of 350,000 tons ap- proximately, which represent only about four months' supply in, the world. If the negotiations of the Frerich Government for a large purchase of early delivery meet with success, higher market should easily be witnessed,

The bullish ideas of the favourable Washington news such as the retention in the Bill of $119,000,000 for the Commodity Credit Corporation were ignored in the market.
