SHANGHAI, Aug. 7 (Reuter)-- The area around Shanghai, cap- tured by the Japanese two years ago, is infested with Chinese gue» rillas.

They are especially active In the Hungiso area, the Japanese- occupied western suburbs of the city, where many wealthy Shưbig- hal residents live.

The Japanese forces have a dif- ficult task in cleaning up this area, which is interspersed with creeks and ponds, and dotted with farms and villages, each one of which may be a guerilla stronghold, while every gravemound or tree is liable to be used by a sniper for cover.
