In comparison with Tuesday's closing quotations the market opened 1/16 of a cent lower for immediate and January-March de-

vertes and 1/8 of a cent lower for October-December positions.

Early in the morning the market ruled quiet and featureless. thus responding to advices received from London and New York. Dealers and speculators were disinclined to enter into fresh commit- ments to any larger extent, whilst only a moderate demand for im mediate and near deliveries by consuming centres was in evidence. Later in the day the market turned slightly easier on some liquidation, causing prices to decline by 198 cent for immediate and January-March and 1/16 cent for October-December options,

Trading was dull and prices eased owing to lack of interest. Private crop estimates, up to the present, are at around 11,454,000G bales. The announcement of the cotton-loan is overdue, disappoint ing many traders, but however is expected any time from now, The general expectation of strong Spot demand through September suggests a worthwhile accumulation of March or May deliveries on easiness,
